Education: University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Bachelor degree in Hotel Administration
First Job: Lawn cutting and shoveling snow business in neighborhood. Dad bought the lawnmower and shovels with this caveat, I could never come into the house until our lawn was cut and our sidewalk and driveway was shoveled.
First “Real” Job: Room Service Captain at the Fairmont hotel in Philadelphia during year off from college between sophomore and junior years. For you old timers, The Fairmont was the Old Bellevue-Stratford hotel after it closed due to outbreak of legionnaires disease.
Essential Business Philosophy: Use common sense, do the right thing, see the big picture but never lose sight that we’re running a business. Meet or exceed all timelines.
Best way to keep a competitive edge: People, employ the most talented people in our industry, people are the difference makers.
Goal yet to be achieved: IMS being recognized as a major player in the association meetings world.
Best Business Decision: Deciding to leave PSAV for IMS.
Worst Business Decision: Not listening to an Account Manager when they said: “I have some real concerns about the Project Managers assigned”. Account was lost.
Toughest Business Decision: Leaving my prior company after 35 years.
Mentor: My father, he led by example. He taught me to always work hard no matter what the job is, always be professional and always do things that aren’t expected of you.
Personal Interests: Visiting National Parks with my wife, time with my dog, watching college football and basketball at all levels (high school, college and the Sixers)
